The Peter Abrahams
Science & Astronomy Estate
The private collection of Peter Abrahams, local meteorologist and an avid astronomer, woodworker and independent scholar of the history of telescopes and binoculars, includes some fantastic telescopes, binoculars, historic medical/science books, and other scientific scopes and navigational equipment. Peter devoted much of his life to researching and writing about the history of telescopes and binoculars. There are dozens of interesting subjects in the history of binoculars and telescopes to occupied his time. In particular, the history of amateur astronomy in the Portland area includes some fantastic telescopes that needed more attention. He was a past president of both the Antique Telescope Society and the Rose City Astronomers, and an active member of Sigma Xi, the American Astronomical Society, Scientific Instrument Commission, Zeiss Historica, the National Coalition of Independent Scholars, and many others. He exemplified kindness and thoughtfulness throughout his life, and he leaves a legacy of scholarly works and art. Above all else, he found wonder and beauty in the world.
This estate will be held at the Gary Germer & Associates showroom gallery and vault where you can not only shop the estate of Peter Abrahams, but also the many treasures available in our store.
