About Gary

Gary GermerGary Germer is Portland's most respected antique, fine art & personal property appraiser. Upon receiving his appraiser's certification in 1987, Gary has built a career in helping people discover & learn more about the treasures in their homes. Working with private parties, bank trust offices, insurance companies & non-profit organizations, Gary is known for accuracy, integrity & professionalism. In addition to personal property appraisal services, Gary is hired for marketing & liquidation of personal property, appraisal clinics & public speaking.

After studying art history at The Pacific Northwest College of Art, Gary worked with his mentor, Mr. Bob Rau, host of the very popular PBS program "The Collectors", and was certified as an appraiser of art, antiques & personal property in 1987. Gary opened his first retail store, The Vancouver Antique Mall, in 1986 and successfully ran it for six years before selling it in 1992 to devote his full time to appraising.
For the past ten years Gary has produced his own traveling antique appraisal clinics. He has brought this show to many venues including retirement communities, fairs, and charity fund raisers from Seattle to Los Angeles. From 2003 through 2007 he was part of KPTV FOX12's Good Day Oregon television program in Portland, Oregon as the "Antique Authority". Gary produced & hosted regular segments on the show covering a variety of topics in the field of antiques & collectibles, with a down-to-earth & fun approach. He is a regular contributor to KATU AM Northwest and KGAL/KSHO radio in the Willamette Valley. Gary specializes in working with bank trust offices, non-profit organizations, insurance companies and private individuals in appraising and liquidating antiques, art and personal property.
